YOUR HOST:
Mark Marion was born in the Boston area and has more-or-less never left except for stints at college (Yale) and summer camp (New Hampshire). Both adventures away from Boston proved to be formative: in college he unwittingly began his TV career when his friend Chris (future producer of The Local Brew) roped him into appearing as a guest on future Food Network chef Dave Lieberman's local cable show (Mark demonstrated home-brewing techniques for an episode on tailgating). College also proved the perfect setting for Mark to learn the simple pleasure of a slow beer with a good friend.
At summer camp he learned about leadership, responsibility, nature and the greatness of simplicity. None of that is about beer, but that's because, thankfully, his life hasn't been all about beer. Lately his life has been about being a chemical engineer at a company in Cambridge, MA where he tries to be responsible and preserve nature so that it will still be around as the backdrop for many more slow beers with good friends in the future. |
